Chronicle is an iOS application that enables teachers to easily implement "best practice" methodologies in their classroom. Using all the features of the iOS platform, Chronicle is a transformative device that empowers teachers by equipping them with an app designed to efficiently inform instruction and chronicle student growth.
Rich, Meaningful Data
Chronicle surpasses traditional anecdotal notes by utilizing multi-media technology, enabling the teacher to quickly capture, and share, student progress via text, photo, audio, and video capabilities.
Imagine the possibilities found in using this data to enhance instruction, feedback, and communication, among other uses.
Customizable Text Fields
Chronicle recognizes that the format of anecdotal notes may vary depending on teacher or administrative preferences. Also, the text fields used to describe the anecdotal notes for one class, such as Reading, may differ greatly from those of another class, like Mathematics. Taking this into account, Chronicle allows for easy customization of text fields from one class to the next.
Chronicle lets teachers easily select any note (text, photo, video, or audio) and designate it as an artifact. An artifact is any note that the teacher would like to recognize as a benchmark achievement, milestone, or some other indicator of student progress. The teacher can simply refer back to a chronological list of these artifacts as needed by tapping on the Scroll icon, which will appear once an artifact is designated.
Formative Assessment Made Easy
The unique "Traffic Light" design allows teachers to quickly assess understanding, achievement, or progress by tapping the corresponding traffic light signal next to each student, assigning the student the color red, yellow, or green. Teachers then have the ability to attach a tag (such as a learning standard or a learning/social behavior) to these colors by using the "Attach Assessment Tag" text field. This tag can be accessed in the Assessment Tag History dropdown list at any time for future reference & instructional decisions.
Common Core Standards
The Common Core Standards are impacting many in the field of education. If you teach in a state that has adopted these standards, Chronicle allows you to easily import and incorporate them into your daily teaching routine.
Chronicle was intentionally designed to support educational standards in any school, district, or state, not only those in which the Common Core Standards apply. We welcome inquiries regarding Chronicle's ability to support your standards.
Chronicle also equips you with another powerful tool, the Gradebook. Transcending the limitations of a traditional gradebook, Chronicle offers a number of rich, informative features, including easily accessible comments, color-coded tracking of student progress, and quick calculation of class average, among others.
There are various other features of Chronicle, such as the management of groups, viewing student data in multiple dimensions, and the ability to share this data.
